Year 9 Celebration Event – Wednesday 12th July 2023

Two female students are pictured sat together at a desk, beside a large window, working on Chromebook laptops.

Dear Parents/Carers,

This academic year, your child has completed the final year of their Middle Years Programme (MYP). A key element of the curriculum has seen them actively engaging in service learning. In Year 9, students complete their service learning through opportunities within the curriculum as well as through the MYP Community Project. This has been a very exciting opportunity for students to utilise the attributes of an MYP learner to increase their global awareness as well as becoming independent learners. Students have been given the ownership to choose a community which is of personal interest and address a need within their chosen community. In doing so, they have designed social action awareness campaigns in their groups and individually.

We would like to invite you to the Academy on Wednesday 12th July, between 4.00 and 5.00pm where you will be able to see the exciting culmination of their work. This will be an opportunity to talk to the students about their service learning experience and their actions, as well as an opportunity to celebrate their success.

For planning purposes, if you would like to attend the event, please complete this Google Form. Refreshments will be provided. We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible on Wednesday 12th July.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries via email at eleanor.parsons@thehalleyacademy.org.uk.

Yours faithfully,

Eleanor Parsons
